I was poking around on YouTube, and decided to do a search for health food videos just to see what might be there. Interestingly enough, the first one to pop up was entitled, “Why Soy is NOT a Health Food“, a subject I wrote about a while back.
This video touches on some things I’d mentioned, plus a few more.
It also gives specifics on which soy foods are bad, and why.
However, fermented soy such as the following:
- Miso
- Natto
- Soy sauces
- Tempeh
are actually beneficial. They are aids in preventing and reducing a variety of diseases including certain forms of heart disease and cancers.
Dr. Mercola says, “Understand that I am in no way opposed to soy consumption, only improper soy consumption. Fermented soy, which includes natto, miso and tempeh, is a healthy food and should be consumed by the masses.”
So although popular non-fermented soy products like fresh and dry soybeans, tofu and soy milk aren’t really health foods, fermented soy foods are good for you.
