Cheap Healthy Fast Food

I know, I know, it sounds like an oxymoron. How can you have cheap healthy fast food? But the facts are, more and more fast food restaurants are putting healthier choices on their menus.  I won’t go so far as to say it’s as healthy as something you’d make yourself, and you have to be careful what you choose, because sometimes what sounds like a healthy choice really isn’t.

Finding Cheap Healthy Fast Food

The “Eat This, Not That” gurus have come up with some cheap healthy fast food choices for lunch at five of the most popular fast food chains. Their choices are as follows:

  1. Burger King: Whopper Jr. without Mayo, a Garden Salad with Ken’s Light Italian Dressing, and 22-oz Minute Maid Light Lemonade for 455 calories and a cost of only a little over $3.00
  2. McDonalds: McChicken Sandwich, a Side Salad with Newman’s Own Low Fat Balsamic Vinaigrette, and Small Iced Tea for 420 calories and just a little over $3.00.
  3. Subway: Order a footlong Oven Roasted Chicken Breast, and save half for another time or share it with a friend. Have a Dannon Light and Fit Yogurt, and drink water, and the meal will come in at only 405 calories and cost less than $5 per meal.
  4. Taco Bell: Bean Burrito with Mexican Rice (fresco style), and Water comes to 450 calories and just a tad over $2.00.
  5. Wendy’s: 5 Piece Crispy Chicken Nuggets and Small Chili with Value Iced Tea nets just 420 calories and costs not quite $4.00.

So if you can’t live without your fast food and/or need to budget, there’s five cheap healthy fast food choices for you to consider next time you eat out.
